<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a distinct screen by projecting synthetic light of 1st and 2nd linearly polarized light components directly transmitted through 1st and 2nd liquid crystal cells respectively or the synthetic light of the light obtained by converting the 1st linearly polarized light component into the 2nd linearly polarized light component and the light obtained by converting the 2nd linearly polarized light component into the 1st linearly polarized component. CONSTITUTION:Random polarized light from a light source 1 is condensed by a parabolic condensing mirror 2 provided on a back surface, made incident on a polarized light beam splitter 3 and separated to P polarized light component and S polarized light component, then the P polarized light component is made incident on a TN liquid crystal cell 5P through a condenser lens 4P. Optical characteristic that the P polarized light component of an image part is transmitted as it is and optical characteristic that it is optically rotated by 90 deg. and converted into the S polarized light component to be transmitted are set in the cell 5P. The S polarized light component is reflected by a plane mirror 6 and made parallel with the P polarized light component, then made to pass through a lens 4S and the cell 5S like the P polarized light component. After the above-mentioned optical characteristic is given to the S polarized light component, which is reflected by a mirror 8 and made to pass through a polarized light beam splitter 7 with the component of the light so as to be projected to the screen 10 by using a projecting lens 9.</p> |
