The invention relates to a burner for liquid or gaseous fuels, in which, inside an outlet pipe which tapers conically at its front end, a burner lance is arranged, which is displaceable in the axial direction of the outlet pipe and which is at its front end provided with a baffle plate which, according to its position with regard to the conically tapering outlet pipe end, defines the passage cross-section for the outlet of the combustion air which is introduced into the outlet pipe by a blower, and means for adjusting the blower pressure depending upon the axial position of the baffle plate being provided in the supply path of the combustion air. The invention envisages that the means for adjusting the blower pressure consist of an additional outlet on the pressure space formed between the housing and the baffle plate, the cross-section of which can be varied by displacing the baffle plate in such a manner that a constant blower pressure is developed automatically in any position of the baffle plate.
