Method of obtaining higher yields of field-grown crops

To obtain higher yields of crops on lighter soils, or soils in dry or arid areas, the irrigation water required for the crops is treated with traces of CO2, in particular up to approximately 0.1 g/l of water, the CO2 being introduced into the water in the form of combustion gases which originate during the combustion of mineral oil or natural gas, or in the form of waste gases of combustion engines.
