PURPOSE:To prevent an afterimage from being formed on the EL display device by applying a specific binary signal to a capacitor and turning on and off a switching element, and applying a dummy pulse to the capacitor right before the binary signal is applied. CONSTITUTION:The EL display device 20 is interposed between row-side and column-side electrodes arrayed in a matrix direction and driven by setting the potentials of the respective row-side electrode and respective column-side electrodes. A composite row driving circuit is supplied with control signals A, B, and C based upon a vertical synchronous rise detection, an odd-row and even-row detection, and a clocking and vertical synchronous polarity detection signal and the capacitor 523 of an output circuit 522 is charged electrostatically with the dummy pulse contained in the signal A right before the device 201 is scanned. Consequently, the FET 525 of the output circuit 522 is securely turned on as the signal A rises and the rounding of the output waveform of a composite driving output PROW is eliminated to prevent the afterimage from appearing on the device 201. |
