The invention relates to a citrate free and chloride-free buffer and reagent system for the separation of amino acids and other ninhydrin-positive components of cation exchangers and their quantitative determination. The buffer and reagent system does not attack special steels and is suitable for amino acid analysers and especially for high-pressure liquid chromatography installations.
