A device for covering objects, surfaces or openings, comprising stretchable tarpaulin material 17. The device additionally comprises at least two spiralled leaf spring bands 25 inserted in parallel material channels in the longitudinal or latitudinal direction of the tarpaulin 17 and at least two straight stiffening battens 24 which extend transversely to the longitudinal direction of the leaf spring bands, the tarpaulin material 17, through the action of the spring bands 25, in the unloaded state forming an extendable roll and in the extended state being held stretched in the longitudinal and transverse direction by means of the spring bands and the battens. <IMAGE> |
