PURPOSE:To provide an uniform leaf blade-like graphite powder having small particle size and high aspect rations by dispersing expanded graphite particles in a liquid and applying ultrasonic waves to the graphite particles in the liquid. CONSTITUTION:Expanded graphite particles are dispersed in a liquid and treated with ultrasonic waves in the liquid. The method gives a leaf blade-like graphite powder having thicknesses of approximately <=1mum and particle sizes of approximately 1-70mum. The solvent is preferably a ketone such as acetone or methyl ethyl ketone, an alcohol such as methanol or ethanol, or an aromatic compound such as benzene or toluene but may be water. The liquid is usually used in a volume ratio of approximately 1.5-100 times the expanded graphite particles. Approximately 28-50kHz generally used in ultrasonic wave washers, etc., are sufficiently used for the frequency of the ultrasonic waves. |
