PURPOSE:To sharply improve high frequency iron loss characteristics by a method wherein the title low loss Mn-Zn soft ferrite, which is suitable for a switching power source transformer and the like, is composed of the main ingredient of content-specified MnO and ZnO and the remainder consisting of Fe2O3, and the content-specified accessory ingredients of CaO, SiO2 and Sb2O3. CONSTITUTION:Uniform fine crystal grains and a grain boundary highly resistant layer are formed by newly compounding a small quantity of Sb2O3 with the ordinary additives CaO and SiO2 based on the information that a remarkably low iron loss state can be accomplished by the above-mentioned composition. To be more precise, CaO of 0.05 to 0.15wt.%, SiO2 of 0.005 to 0.03wt.% and Sb2O3 of 0.005 to 0.03wt.% are added to and mixed with the main ingredient containing MnO of 35 to 37mol% and ZnO of 0.10 to 12mol% and the remaining part substantially consisting of Fe2O3. Then, the above mentioned material is crushed using a wet ball mill, mixed by adding a binder, and after the material has been formed into the prescribed shape, it is sintered in an oxygen- concentration-controlled atmosphere at 1,360 deg.C for three hours. |
