The invention relates to a placard made of a plate-like or foil-like support with signs, symbols or the like applied thereon in a contrasting colour. A simple construction and a rapid economical manufacture are guaranteed by slots being made in the support in rows which are arranged with or without interspaces between them, which slots extend over the row width, by the row width being adapted to the width of strips designed in the contrasting colour, and by the strips in the rows being drawn in through consecutive slots in such a manner that selected regions of the rows are arranged optionally in front of or behind the support to illustrate signs, symbols or the like.
