PURPOSE: To provide a food package effective for the heating in a microwave oven by including a microwave interactive material extremely close to a heat seable resin in a microwave releasable adhesive seal, and making the seal selectively releasable when the food is heated under the microwave heating condition. CONSTITUTION: A lower surface of a supporting layer 14 is coated with a layer 15 of a heat seable thermoplastic polymer resin. A microwave releasable seal includes a microwave interactive material extremetely close to a heat sealable resin layer 15 containing a foaming agent. The microwave interactive material becomes hot when the package 10 is exposed to the microwave energy. The resin layer is softened by the heating of the microwave interactive material, and the foaming agent is heated to a temperature at which it starts releasing of gas by the decomposition or the like. The gas formation in the heat sealing resin layer 15 destroys the integrity of the heat seal 16, and the container 10 is opened during the cooking by the microwave. The opening of the seal 16 of the container 10 by the exposure of the microwave, is effectively liberating the water vapor generated in the cooking process. |
