Strands of multicolored, striped toothpaste with a cross-section in the form a polygon of n sides, where n is an integer from 3 to 7, can be dispensed without diffuse transition zones from a storage container, provided that the ratio between the yield points of the carrier strand paste and the stripe paste is approximately 1.10:1 to 1.20:1. A device of the type shown in Figure 1 is suitable for dispensing the toothpaste.
