NEW MATERIAL:SS-1981-B substance having the following physicochemical properties. Solubility; soluble in water and methanol and sparingly soluble in acetone, chloroform and ethyl acetate. Color reaction; positive to anisaldehyde- sulfuric acid reaction, anthron-sulfuric acid reaction and chlorin-tolidine reaction and negative to ninhydrin reaction. Color; white.Property; powder.Containing glycine residue and serine residue at 2:1 ratio in constituent components, etc. USE:An antibacterial agent having superior antibacterial action against Gram-positive bacteria, especially resistant Staphylococcus. PREPARATION:SS-1981-B substance-producing bacteria belonging to the genus Nocardiopsis [preferably Nocardispsis sp. SS-1981 strain (FERM BP-1801)] are cultured preferably at 20-29 deg.C for 1-5 days. Nalidixinic acid(salt) is preferably added into a medium in cultivation since the amount of the product is remarkably increased. |
