PURPOSE:To obtain an external preparation having extremely high percutaneous absorption containing a beta-blocker such as propranolol, higher alcohol or higher fatty acid and a specific solvent. CONSTITUTION:An external preparation containing (A) propranolol hydrochloride, oxprenolol hydrochloride or metoprolol tartrate, (B) a percutaneous absorption promoter selected from a higher alcohol shown by the formula R1OH (R1 is 10-20C saturated aliphatic group or aliphatic group containing double bond at C except alpha-position) and a higher fatty acid shown by the formula R2COOH (R2 is 9-17C saturated aliphatic group or aliphatic group containing 1-3 double bonds at C except alpha-position) and (C) a solvent selected from ethanol, isopropanol and water in the ratio of 0.1-10wt.% component A, 3-20wt.% component B and 30-95wt.% component C. Use of the components B and C extremely raises percutaneous absorption of the component A. |
