<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a stable property of carry by improving aerodynamic symmetry, by a method wherein, on spherical right triangles adjoining with each other, dimples are so arranged as to be axially symmetrical about an axis of symmetry which is their common side and also as not to cross on great circular lines. CONSTITUTION:By drawing virtual perpendiculars 5, 5, 5 to each of opposite sides from three vertexes 4, 4, 4 of spherical equilateral triangles 3, 3..., each of the spherical equilateral triangles 3, 3... is divided into six pieces of spherical right triangles 6a, 6b...6f. In this way, the surface of a ball 1 is divided into forty-eight pieces of the spherical right triangles and dimples are arranged on each of the spherical right triangles. In this case, the dimples are so arranged as to be axially symmetrical about an axis of symmetry which is a common side, e.g. the common side between 6a and 6b is 7a, of the spherical right triangles adjoining with each other, e.g. 6a and 6b, or 6a and 6c, etc. Three or more kinds of dimples also are so arranged as not to cross each other on three great circular lines 2, 2, 2. It is thus possible to improve aerodynamic symmetry moreover.</p> |
