PURPOSE:To decrease the deterioration in the picture quality even in an existing receiving system, to attain reproduction with compatibility and to obtain a reproduced picture with sufficiently high horizontal resolution by applying band compression to a video signal at a broad band more than the transmission band of an existing transmission line so as to send the signal. CONSTITUTION:A sender side decodes an incoming color signal to form color difference signals R-Y and B-Y, a switch 3 synthesizes them in time series, they are extracted by DA converters 51, 52, via an A/D converter 5, LPFs 61, 62 filter the frequency below a half the sampling frequency fs and the result is sent to an existing VTR via an encoder 7. The extracting point of the color difference signal is circulated at 4 field to ensure the compatibility with the existing device. A receiver side decodes an incoming signal, extracts it by using the sampling signal, the result is AD-converted, synthesized in a memory 14, 1H delay and interpolation processing 16 are applied, the color difference signal is formed by using a clock of 2fs at D/A converters 171, 172 and frequency less than the fs is filtered via the LPF and outputted through encoding. Through the constitution above, the picture quality deterioration is less even in the existing reception system and compatible reproduction is attained. |
