Crushing roll including a supporting structure 10, two rolls 16, 18 the axes of which are parallel and arranged substantially in the same horizontal plane, the bearings of one of the rolls being secured to the supporting structure whereas the bearings of the other roll may be moved with respect to the supporting structure to allow this other roll to move closer to and further away from the first one, and means 20 making it possible to exert an elastic thrust force on the movable roll so as to bring it closer to the first one. In order to simplify the construction and facilitate the maintenance of the crushers of this type, the two rolls 16, 18 are carried by two rigid chassis 12, 14 articulated to the supporting structure 10 about axes 30 which are parallel to the axes of the rolls and located below the latter, one of the chassis 12 is secured to the supporting structure by removable means 36 and the said chassis are connected together at their upper part by two thrust cylinders 20 making it possible to exert on the other chassis 14 a tensile load tending to bring the two rolls closer together. <IMAGE>
