PURPOSE:To reduce a time lag in each operation of a clutch and a brake by driving a fluid pressure selector means at time of gear shift judgement, and increasing the extent of fluid pressure being added to the clutch or brake at the engaged side temporarily. CONSTITUTION:When an electronic controller CPU judges a speed change from throttle opening, car speed and existing shift speed by sensors 26, 25, 27 or the like, it drives duty solenoid valves 41 - 45 of a corresponding friction engager, and temporarily increases a fluid being added to clutches C0, C2 and brakes B0 - B2 at the engaged side via respective shift valves. Afterward, it puts it back to hydraulic pressure of the latest level where each shift valve starts its operation, and increases engaging hydraulic pressure according to an increase of engine speed. Thus, since fluid pressure is temporarily increased, air existing in a pipeline is exhausted, so that a clutch or brake can be smoothly operated. |
