Device for closing a tap 1 supplying a water flush tank (cistern), of the type in which the action of the tap is controlled by the rising movement of a float 3, which is arranged in an appended container 4, inside the tank (cistern), this container being filled, at the end of filling the water rising up in the tank (cistern), and the container including means capable of adjusting the level of water in the tank (cistern) from which the communication with the appended container is set up and from which the action of the float may be triggered, and the device is characterised in that the said adjustment means consist of at least one wall 6 of the said container provided with at least one and preferably a successive plurality of zones 11, 11', 11'', arranged on this wall and joined together and to the body of the wall by a line of weakness, allowing the cutting and separation of one or of several of the said zones, removal by cutting of one or several of the said zones defining, on the said wall, a notch the lower level of which can be adjusted and which thus defines the level of the water in the tank (cistern) from which the water from the tank (cistern) communicates with the said container. <IMAGE>
