Process for the manufacture of a composite of elastomer or of easily mouldable resin making it possible to increase, in high proportions, the percentage of microbeads in a viscoelastic matrix. The invention also relates to an elastomer composite obtained from such a manufacturing process. It consists in adding an acetone-based diluent progressively to a paste made up of a viscoelastic matrix and microbeads, and then inserting new microbeads and so on. It applies, for example, to materials with positive buoyancy employed by the designers of underwater appliances and to high-density materials such as ballasts.
