PURPOSE: To decide finally the coordinates of an end face of an optical fiber with less memories by providing a calculation circuit deciding the position coordinates of the end surface of the optical fiber on a processor. CONSTITUTION: A distance between the end faces of the optical fibers 1, 2 is displayed visually on a display screen 20 of a monitor device 13. On the coordinates X5 of a slit where a cursor line 21 is visible, a video signal intensity I in the direction of y is detected by a curve 22 to be stored and to be converted to a mean signal intensity Im . When the coordinates X5 is moved within the range displayed on the display screen 20, the mean signal intensity Im viewing along the x axis is changed like the curve 23. Transition points occurring in the points XE1 and XE2 of the end faces of the optical fibers 1, 2 are evaluated by the information of the coordinates of these positions XE1 , XE2 . After the processor evaluates the information of the slit, a memory position used until then is made to be empty before the next split data are stored, only a few number of memory positions are required. |
