PURPOSE:To make the lighting of a discharge lamp securer by providing an oscillation transformer of an inverter circuit section with a second coil section and connecting the coil section to a charge circuit for charging a start pulse generating condenser of a starter circuit section thereby increasing the condenser terminal voltage. CONSTITUTION:A second coil section N2 for charging a start pulse generator condenser CS of a starter circuit section 118 is separately disposed at an oscillation transformer T1 of an inverter circuit section 114. The second coil section N2 has a higher output voltage than that of the first coil section N1 and charges the start pulse generator condenser CS with a higher voltage through charge circuits RS, DS of the starter circuit section 118. This makes it possible to increase the terminal voltage of the condenser CS, to increase the start pulse voltage applied to both ends of a discharge lamp 116, and to make starting and lighting of the discharge lamp securer. |
