PURPOSE:To discharge electric charge stored in a phase advancing condenser, raise the terminal voltage of a start pulse generating condenser and make the lighting start of a discharge lamp surer by providing a start pulse generator circuit section with an impedance in parallel with the start pulse generator circuit section. CONSTITUTION:A start pulse generator circuit section 118 including a start pulse generator condenser CS is provided with an impedance 120 in parallel with a discharge lamp 116. This makes it possible to increase the terminal voltage of the start pulse generator condenser CS even if its capacity is greater than that of a phase advancement condenser C1 by discharging the electric charge stored in the phase advancement condenser C1. As a result, the discharge lamp 116 can be started and lit without fail even with a high frequency higher than audible frequencies. |
