PURPOSE:To improve ion conductivity and workability while expanding usable temperature range by containing a prescribed quantity of sodium oxide, lanthanoids oxide and silicon dioxide respectively for being formed vitreous. CONSTITUTION:A raw material containing sodium oxide 30 to 50%, lanthanoids oxide 1 to 9% and silicon dioxide 50 to 70% in a partial molar quantity is given temporary baking followed by being powdered further to be molded and baked to form solid electrolyte. In this case, baking is performed by removing carbon dioxide in the raw material, besides at 900 to 1100 deg.C, where sodium is not scattered and lost. Thereby, a baked substance becomes vitreas while being minute, having good workability and little weakness in chemical durability caused by a crystal grain field besides high Na ion conductivity and a wide temperature range especially usable at a low temperature. |
