The invention is about an optical device for learning purposes, in that it simulates specific situations, for example traffic situations, and the learner has the possibility of showing a specific behaviour in these situations, for example when driving a vehicle. For this purpose, the device is suitable for reproducing images (pictures) by means of a screen which has a liquid crystal display panel, and an interface for connecting up a computer. Under the liquid crystal display panel (14) a picture original (17), provided with a data strip (19) which can be scanned, is arranged in a replaceable manner to be viewed jointly with a liquid crystal display. The data strip (19) of the picture original (17) put underneath projects into the area of a data scanning device (20) and the data which are stored on the data strip (19) are fed as control signals via a computer to the liquid crystal display panel (14). The data strip (19) contains a program which is assigned to the picture original (17) and can be reproduced on the liquid crystal display panel (14) by means of a keyboard (15) as changing information. <IMAGE>
