A method for the production of press-formed objects, in which mechanical wood pulp, preferably a mass of shredded wood, is heated for the purpose of reducing the moisture content. Plastics material, advantageously polyethylene, is added to this; the mixture of mechanical wood pulp and plastics material is mixed in a screw mixer to form a homogeneous mix; the mix is heated in such a way that at least part of the plastics material melts into the mechanical wood pulp; the homogenised hot mix is forced continuously by a screw press through a die to form the designed shape; and is cooled, the plastics material bonding together the constituents of the mechanical wood pulp to form a solid press-formed object. |
