<p>This invention is a fluid actuator (82) of the rolling lobe form in which a closed toroidal flexible membrane (84) forms concentric rolling lobes on the inside and outside surfaces of an annular piston (86) which moves axially into the membrane (84). The fluid actuator (82) can be used in brake and clutch assemblies (80) where the actuator is connected to a high pressure fluid source (98) and serves to activate the brake or clutch assembly (80), a shaft (114) or axle can pass through the center of the toroid.</p> |
