PURPOSE: To obtain an ophthalmic medicine for protecting eye retina from ultraviolet light, comprising an aqueous gel containing an aloe vera chromophore emollient and ethylene-maleic acid anhydride polymer for gel formation by forming a UV absorption spectrum equilibrium between the tear film and epithelium of the cornea of the eye. CONSTITUTION: This ophthalmic medicine comprises a water-soluble gel having 40,000 to 300,000cPs (preferably 90,000 to 150,000cPs) viscosity and containing 4-6wt.% of both of the aloe vera chromophore emollient and ethylene-maleic acid anhydride polymer having >=1,000,000 (preferably 1,000,000 to 6,000,000) molecular weight. It is possible to alleviate mocous membrane after corneal transplantation and protect the eye retina from ultraviolet lights B and C for a long time by administering the medicine in the eye and treatment of corneal ulcer can be carried out by irradiating eye with ultraviolet light in the presence of the medicine. |
