PURPOSE:To make a substitute display for an intensified display even on a flat panel display unit which makes no gradational display by switching a font to be read by the emphasis control bit of a foreground attribute and making a reverse display with a background attribute. CONSTITUTION:A character code is read out of a memory 4 and held in a register 7 and an attribute code is read out of a memory 5 and held in a register 8; and then they are supplied to an address control circuit 2. Then the address output of the address control circuit 2 for reading one of two kinds of fonts stored in a font memory 3 is controlled according to the character code and the intensification control bit of the foreground attribute. Further, a video control circuit 6 makes the reverse display unless the background attribute indicates black. Consequently, the substitute display for intensification can be made even on the flat panel display unit which makes no gradational display. |
