PURPOSE:To allow easy and rapid switching and connecting of optical transmission lines by setting the eccentric distance of pin fitting holes within the range where the front ends of the pins can fit into the pin fitting holes of the other ferrule without colliding against the end face of the other ferrule when the pins are advanced from one ferrule toward the other ferrule. CONSTITUTION:The pins 31A to 31B are simultaneously moved leftward in order to switch the state from the state in which the 1st coated optical fiber 38A and the 3rd coated optical fiber 38C are held connected. The eccentric distance (d) of the pin fitting holes 13B, 13D and the pin fitting holes 23B, 23D is below the radius of the pin fitting holes when the front ends of the pins 31B, 31D come to the boundary of the two ferrules 11 and 21; in addition, the front ends of the pins are tapered toward the front ends and, therefore, the front ends of the pins 31B, 31D intrude into the pin fitting holes 23B, 23D without colliding against the end faces of the 2nd ferrule 21. The 2nd coated optical fiber 38B and the 3rd coated optical fiber 38C are, therefore, connected. The switching and connecting of the optical transmission lines are easily and rapidly executed in this way. |
