PURPOSE:To increase a recording density by recording in a recording film on a substrate with light, tracing the surface profile of the film by use of tunnel current and reproducing the informations from the readout of the profile. CONSTITUTION:The Si substrate is polished with high precision, on which polymethyn dye is applied by spin coating. The substrate is irradiated with laser beam to form pits, dents or ring projections in the plane of the substrate for recording. The recorded substrate is then subjected to sputtering to deposite a gold film to give electric conductivity. The surface profile of the medium is traced by a tunnel-current detecting device equipped with a driving system utilizing piezoelectric effect. Thus, the readout of the information from the profile information is executed and reproduced thereof. By using this tracing technique with tunnel current and recording with light, the recording density can be improved. |
