摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a C/C composite having low porosity and high strength in high efficiency by preparing a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material using a specific treatment and depositing heat-decomposed carbon in the pore of the obtained composite material. CONSTITUTION:A formed article composed of carbon fiber and a raw material for a carbonaceous matrix is carbonized. The obtained carbonized product is impregnated with pitch or resin and again carbonized to obtain a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material having a porosity of 8-15%. A heat- decomposed carbon is deposited in the pore of the obtained carbon fiber- reinforced carbon composite material by heat-decomposing a hydrocarbon at 950-1200 deg.C under a pressure of 10-200Torr to obtain the objective densified composite material having a porosity of <=6%. Methane is especially preferable as the hydrocarbon to be used in the above process from the viewpoint of the easiness of reaction control and the production efficiency.
