PURPOSE:To automatically select sheet materials by detecting the sizes of the sheet materials housed in sheet material housing parts, and operating a detecting unit on the side of a recording device based on information on the detected sizes. CONSTITUTION:Sheet materials housing parts A, B are provided in a sheet material supply device 100 capable of being connected to a sheet material supply port 200' of a recording device 200. Various sizes of sheet materials S are housed in the housing part A by sliding a guide plate in opposition to the sheet materials. At the same time, a detecting sensor is pressed against the sheet material by a contactor provided on the guide plate to detect the size of the sheet material. With the housing part B, a contactor is pressed by a projection provided on different positions for each size of the sheet materials S to be housed to detect the size of the sheet material. A detecting unit K of the recording device 200 is driven by information on the detected sizes to output proper information to a control unit of the recording device 200. The information on the sizes on the side of the recording device 200 can thus be automatically converted to the information suited for selection of sheet materials. |
