HIGH-DENSITY CHEMICAL CONVERTED MANGANESE DIOXIDE AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain chemical converted manganese dioxide for dry cells having a higher tap density than that of conventional formed manganese dioxide by subjecting manganese dioxide to compression forming under a vacuum in a densifying step in producing the chemical converted manganese dioxide. CONSTITUTION:The above-mentioned high-density chemical converted manganese dioxide is obtained by subjecting manganese oxide of a low number of oxidation to treatment with a mineral acid and then densifying the resultant manganese dioxide utilizing compression forming under a vacuum and has >=2.4g/cm<3> tap density. The afore-mentioned densifying is carried out by compression forming under >=0.15ton/cm<2> pressure and then pulverizing the resultant compact.
