PURPOSE:To improve a utilization factor of active material by adding nickel hydroxide powder as a main component and one or more of CoO, beta-Co(OH)2 and alpha-Co(OH)2 powders and metal Co powder to alkali-proof fiber porous material. CONSTITUTION:Nickel hydroxide powder as a main component, one or more of CoO, beta-Co(OH)2, and alpha-Co(OH)2 powders and metal Co powder are added to alkali-proof fiber porous material. A discharge reserve quantity of a counter-electrode cadmium electrode is controlled by a ratio of bivalent Co compound powder of CoO, beta-Co(OH)2 and alpha-Co(OH)2 added to a nickel electrode to metal Co powder. Thereby, it is possible to obtain the nickel electrode which has an improved utilization factor of active material and high performance and productivity, and an alkali battery which can control a discharge reserve value of a cadmium negative electrode using the nickel electrode. |
