<p>PURPOSE:To enable obtaining of the subject high-purity fatty acid at a low cost by directly extracting marine microbial cells untreated or treated with an acid with a fluid in a supercritical state. CONSTITUTION:Marine microbial cells 11 belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, Alteromonas or Shewanella are placed in an extraction container 7 made of stainless steel. CO2 gas 1 is then passed through a precooling block 2 and mixed therewith. On the other hand, a modifier 6, such as ethanol, in an amount of 5-10wt.% is subsequently passed through a liquid feed pump 5 and mixed to provide the extraction solvent, which is then fed to the container 7 with a liquid feed pump 3 to carry out extraction at 20-80 deg.C under 100-400kg/cm<2> for 30-240min. The resultant extraction fluid is subsequently passed through an UV detector 8 for monitoring the extraction and a restriction tie 9 and collected in a separation container 10. The obtained extraction solution is then subjected to analytical treatment to produce a highly unsaturated fatty acid of 70-90wt.% purity consisting essentially of eicospantaenoic acid, etc., at >=90% recovery ratio.</p> |
