PURPOSE:To use a ceramic honeycomb structure as a catalytic converter having no rotational displacement by forming a recessed section to at least one part of an outside surface during the extrusion molding of the ceramic honeycomb structure. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic honeycomb structure 1 immediately after extrusion is placed onto a cradle 11, and a mold 12 is applied to the ceramic honeycomb structure 1 or a specified projecting section is formed to the cradle 11 and the cradle 11 is indented. A recessed section can be shaped to at least one part of an outside surface through cutting-off by a cutting blade or a small-gage wire such as a metallic wire. A ceramic mat 13 is wound around said ceramic honeycomb structure 1, and housed into a can 14, and both ends of the structure 1 are clogged by cones 15, thus preventing displacement in the direction of a through-hole 2 and rotational displacement centering around the direction of the through-hole 2. |
