<p>PURPOSE: To prevent the resolution of a touch panel from being limited by a maximum number of attachable light emitting elements and light receiving elements by causing the light beam emitted from a light emitting element to go toward a light receiving element across a display panel. CONSTITUTION: Column electrodes 16 are extended from the top to the bottom of a display panel 12, and row electrodes 22 are extended from the left to the right of the panel 12, and pixels 28 are formed in areas where electrodes 16 and 22 cross. Reflection mirrors 74, 80, 82, and 84 are arranged on first row and column and last row and column of pixels 28. Pixels 28 on first row and column and those on last row and column are successively turned on and mirrors 74, 80, 82, and 84 are used so that light beams emitted from Y light emitting elements 52 and X light emitting elements 58 go toward Y light receiving elements 64 and X light receiving elements 70 across the panel 12. Thus, the resolution of the panel, 12 is not limited by a maximum number of attachable light emitting elements and light receiving elements to obtain the resolution of the panel 12 corresponding to the resolution of the number of pixels of display.</p> |
