PURPOSE:To prevent the scattering of a one-component developer in a developing device main body by forming the layer of the developer formed in the area of a developing sleeve corresponding to the no-image forming area of an image carrier thinner in thickness than the layer of the developer formed in the area of the developing sleeve corresponding to the image forming area of the image carrier. CONSTITUTION:When an elastic regulating member 6 which works as the 1st developing agent thickness regulating means is brought into press-contact with the outer peripheral surface of a developing sleeve 2, the frictional force between a one-component developer 3 held on the outer peripheral surface of the sleeve 2 and the outer peripheral surface of the sleeve 2 increases and the layer 3A of the developing layer increases in thickness. As a result, a copied picture having a high picture density can be obtained. Then thicknesses of layers 3B of the one-component developer held on areas at both end sections of the sleeve 2 in the direction of its rotary axis are controlled to thinner than that of the layer 3A by using a magnetic rigid regulating member 7, and so forth. Therefore, the developer of the layers B held on the areas at both end sections of the sleeve 2 hardly adheres to no-picture forming areas on the outer peripheral surface of a photosensitive drum 1 and can be prevented from being scattered in this developing device main body. |
