发明名称 PRODUCTION OF LUMP GLASS
摘要 PURPOSE:To readily produce high-quality large-sized glass by gelatinizing a liquid sol having a specific glass component composition and immediately removing an alcohol, water, etc., which are released in contraction of gel. CONSTITUTION:Fine particles of a metallic alkoxide and a metallic oxide are used as main components to prepare a liquid sol of the aimed glass component composition first. The liquid sol is gelatinized in a closed container of a desired shape to form a wet gel. Then the wet gel is subjected to heat treatment such as drying or sintering and made into glass. In the production of glass by sol-gel method, the following treatment is carried out. Namely, when the liquid sol is gelatinized and then gel is contracted with advance of condensation reaction through dehydration, an alcohol, water, etc., to release are immediately removed to give the aimed lump glass. By the production of the lump glass, uses such as photomask substrate for IC, preform for optical fiber or special optical use requiring high qualities are considered not to mention use in the field of conventionally using quartz glass.
