PURPOSE:To produce glycosides of phenols in a high yield by forming a catalyst for condensation of glycoside contg. a copper (11) halide and a halide of a metal other than copper and/or a metal other than copper. CONSTITUTION:A copper (II) halide, e.g., cupric chloride or cupric bromide is blended with a halide of a metal other than copper, e.g., zinc chloride or zinc bromide and/or a metal other than copper, e.g., zinc powder to prepare a catalyst for condensation of glycoside. When aryl glycosides, especially tocopherol glycosides are produced, acyl saccharide is mixed with phenols and a halide of a metal other than copper and/or powder of a metal other than copper, the mixture is stirred for 0.5-2h under heating at 70-150 deg.C under reduced pressure, a copper (II) halide is added and they are stirred under heating. The resulting liq. reaction product is dehydrated, concentrated, separated and purified to obtain aryl glycosides having acyl groups. |
