All the links 1 of the conveyor chain are arranged in closed circuit 2 in order together to define the useful or working surface of the chain. Under a zone of this chain there is the drive mechanism. The drive mechanism is formed by two toothed pinions 6, separated and connected by a transmission chain 7, equipped externally with teeth 3 which will be housed in cavities 5 of the back of the links 1, the entrainment of the conveyor chain thus being transmitted by means of a number of teeth 3. Provision is made for a dolly (die) plate 9 under the active portion of the transmission chain 7 and for the links 1 to be guided laterally between the flanges 11 of a casing 10 which encloses the drive mechanism. In this way, perfect meshing for entrainment is guaranteed. <IMAGE>
