发明名称 THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING MATERIAL AND PRODUCTION THEREOF
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording material with high printing and image qualities superior in adhesion of an ink containing a colorant and transfer properties and free from ground scumming by dispersing microcapsules obtained by coating colorant particles with a resin in an ink layer. CONSTITUTION:In an ink layer 3 of a thermal transfer recording material consisting of a substrate 1 and the ink layer 3, microcapsules 5 obtained by coating colorant particles 7 with a resin 8 are dispersed. As the colorant 7 used for the microcapsules 5, a pigment such as a carbon black, a dye, or the like is used. As the resin 8, a thermoplastic polyamide resin, polyester resin, ethylene-methacrylate copolymer resin, or the like is accordingly used. As a binder component 6, other than the resin 8, spermaceti, beeswax, lanolin, synthetic wax, and other waxes can be selectively used. The microcapsule 5 preferably has an average particle diameter in the range of 0.5-4mum. The ink is preferably applied at a temperature below the softening or melting temp. of the resin 8 used for the microcapsule 5. The microcapsule 5 is formed by an interfacial polymerization method, an in situ polymerization method, a phase separation method, a spray drying method, or the like and preferably has a powder form to be mixed into the binder 6.
