PURPOSE:To improve the detection rate of a position (reference position) of a part to be detected by recognizing a fact that a candidate is the part to be detected, when the shape of divided parts of the detected part candidate divided by a diameter segment of the part to be detected coincides with a bisected shape of a normal shape. CONSTITUTION:A detected part candidate being a part having a diameter segment of a part to be detected is extracted from an image containing the part to be detected. Subsequently, whether the shape of divided parts divided by a diameter segment of said candidate coincides with a bisected shape of a normal shape or not is decided. In the case of coincidence, the position of the part to be detected is detected from the divided parts of the candidate. According to such a method, even if the shape of the part to be detected in an image is different from the normal shape, when at least half or above of its normal shape exists in the image, its part to be detected is recognized, and its position can be detected. As a result, the detection rate of the position of the part to be detected can be improved remarkably. |
