The compounds 1,4,2-oxazaphospholidine-4-acetic acid, 2-alkoxy-2-oxides and their trialkylamine salts represented by the formula <CHEM> wherein R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are individually selected from the group consisting of alkyl having from one to about four carbon atoms are useful as post emergent, selective herbicides and plant growth regulators.
