PRODUCTION OF OXIDE SUPERCONDUCTOR

PURPOSE:To obtain a Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O type oxide superconductor having a practical critical current density and made chiefly of a phase having a high critical temp. by forming the interface between a Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O compd. and a compd. contg. Pb and heat-treating them in an oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:When a Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O type oxide superconductor is produced, the interface 13 between a Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O compd. 1 and a compd. 2 contg. Pb is formed and they are heat-treated in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to grow a superconductor layer along the interface 13. Lead oxide such as PbO, Pb2O3 or Pb3O4 or a mixture of such oxides may be used as the Pb compd.
