<p>One or more filter plates (9, 10) can be inserted from above into vertical edge grooves (11) of the trough (1). On the inlet side, a syphon plate (7) consisting of a refractory material is also introduced into an edge groove (8) in front of the first filter plate and ends with its lower edge at a distance from the bottom (2) of the trough, so that the molten metal must first flow around the lower edge of the syphon plate (7) before it reaches the first filter plate (9).
