PURPOSE: To secure the extent of high reliability in a gas generator despite being inexpensive in structure by setting up it in a device central part, and joining a lot of filter chambers to both the sides, in this gas generator to be installed in a safety bag device protecting passengers in a vehicle from any impact in time of a frontal clash. CONSTITUTION: This gas generator is composed of equipping a gas generating chamber 1 and two filter chambers 2 and 3 to be installed on both the sides, and main parts in these elements are integrally constituted as a cylindrical tubular structural unit consisting of a thin plate. This gas generator 1 is built-in with a propellant and an ignition unit 4, and this ignition unit 4 is so controlled as to ignite an initiator of this propellant when a sensor circuit has perceived a clash. In addition, the filter chambers 2 and 3 are arranged in the axial direction of a main axis of the gas generating chamber 1 and joined to this chamber 1, therefore these filter chambers 2 and 3 induce pressure gas generated in the gas generating chamber 1 by way of a nozzle opening 10, spraying the swirled, deflected pressure gas by way of longitudinal slits 20 and 30. |
