The compressor drive shaft (5) has a thrust plate (23) fastened to it which carries the spherical bearing ends (14) of the piston rods (15) which are connected to the compressor pistons (13). The cylinder body (12) is mounted on and rotates with a secondary shaft (16) which is inclined at an angle to the drive shaft and driven by it through bevel gears. Rotation of the drive shaft causes the pistons to oscillate. A horse shoe shaped floating valve plate (21) is held against the cylinder body by outlet pressure and forms a cylinder head during compression and discharge. Bearing housing dimensions and location are related to compression pressures and shaft angel.
