PURPOSE:To obtain the subject foam, compatible to polyisocanates and excellent in smoking properties, heat resistance, flame retardance, etc., by reacting a silicate oligomer with an active hydrogen-containing compound and then blending the resultant reaction product with a polyisocyanate. CONSTITUTION:(A) A tetraalkoxysilane is hydrolyzed and polycondensed through dehydration until the hydrolytic ratio attains 0-65% to provide a silicate oligomer, which is then reacted with (B) an active hydrogen-containing compound (e.g., phenol) having 80-500 molecular weight and 1 number of functional group or (C) an active hydrogen-containing compound having >=500 molecular weight and <=2 number of functional groups so as to provide 1-15 ratio of number of alkoxy groups/number of active hydrogens in the case of the component (B) and 10-100 ratio in the case of the component (C). The resultant reaction product is subsequently blended with a polyisocyanate at (1/9)-(9/1) weight ratio to afford a composition. The obtained composition is then reacted with an active hydrogen compound at >=2 equiv. ratio of NCO/active hydrogen to provide the objective foam. |
