PURPOSE: To bleach textiles and suppress occurrence of microorganisms on textile surface and protect textiles from contamination due to microorganisms by treating textiles with a specific water-soluble phthalocyanine compound under irradiation of light in the presence of water in bleaching of textiles. CONSTITUTION: Textiles are treated with a water-soluble zinc-phthalocyanine compound or a water-soluble aluminum-phthalocyanine compound represented by the formula (MePC is zinc- or aluminum-phthalocyanine ring; y is H, an alkali metal ion, ammonium ion or an amine salt ion; V is 1-4; R is fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine or cyano; λ is 0 or 1 to 8) in the presence of water under irradiation with light (e.g. incandescent lamp or infrared ray lamp) to bleach the textiles and more effectively, more economically and widely suppress occurrence of microorganisms in the interior or on the surface of organic or inorganic substrate and promote antimicrobial action. |
